Day 10

Part of a "30 Day Drawing Challenge".

The prompt for Day 10: Something you couldn't live without.

Mosaic Character Tiles

I took a Mosaic and Tilemaking class over the summer and it was a ton of fun. I ended up making three 3” by 3” tiles featuring little characters, as well as a Mixed Cats one I did on the first day while getting the feel of the process (and seeing if I could actually mosaic tiles that small!).

From the top left, clockwise: a grey kitty stretching like my Rylee, Mr. Butters (by boyfriend's cat), the Mixed Cats one I did on the first day, and a bunny with a balloon. I was so nervous I wouldn’t be able to grout them correctly because of how small they are, but I think it worked out well.

Thumbnails

Another thumbnail page, this time for my series of cat calendar paintings.

Snow White and Rose Red

Just a thumbnail color study page from my sketchbook (because they crack me up for some reason.)

The Knightmare

The second page of a mini comic I painted about a “nightmare as a child”. I remember one winter when I heard loud clanking, and for some reason assumed it was the footsteps of a huge knight in armor coming down the hallway for me.

Painted in gouache on dark navy card stock, it was a fun and different way to work.
